Music To Visit and Revisit
1st to revisit: Dangerous Toys
So I was out at a club recently and was pleasantly surprised, twice.
I went to go see the legendary Dangerous Toys. Fronted by Jason McMaster who did not disappoint. Jason is a monster when it comes to metal. He has the crowd in the palm of his hand from start to end with his own version of Cock Rock. Fronting about 25 different metal bands (ok, that’s a slight exaggeration), he gives a unique twist to each and every one of them. Paul Lidel on guitar is just the cherry on top of this sundae. Dangerous Toys reminds us why we loved the 80’s. If it’s been awhile since you’ve heard them give yourself a treat and go get some ear candy.

Here's one of our favorites: Scared
Next up is a reason to have faith in the future of Rock: Black Heart Saints
Also on the bill that night was a local Austin band Black Heart Saints. As I watched the set change over from the opening act I was quickly forming my impression of what I thought these guys were going to be all about. Yeah, I’ve seen this kind of band before, anyway, wonder how long it’ll be before the Dangerous Toys………………..WOW! You’ve got to be kidding me, where did that groove come from???? What a performance! The rhythm section was kicking, the guitars were screaming, and front man Josh Ross was off the charts with his singing and stage presence. If these guys are not on your short list of bands to see in town, you need to tear up your list and start a new one that begins with Black Heart Saints.
