Thrash metal legend Bruce Corbitt of Rigor Mortis and Warbeast passed away today after a long battle with cancer.
It strikes me that if one of the measures of greatness is the love one engenders from the ones around them, then Bruce was a great man indeed. His battle with cancer was very long and at one point he wrote that he didn't want cancer to be all there was about him. But as I recall the last show in which he performed, that couldn't have been further from the truth. When I looked around the venue I didn't just see fans, I saw family. Bruce was at the very center of that family. Though cancer had already taken a toll on him, it was as if stregnth surged back to him as he took to the stage. He truly loved what he did and his fans loved him back.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and band mates at this time. Batman you will always be remembered.
