Album Review: Dystopia by Megadeth
You never know what to expect when you are about to review a band’s 15th album. It could be a tired old rehash of everything you’ve heard before where every other song is a filler. This is NOT the case with Megadeth’s newest release, Dystopia.
From first few moments of The Threat is Real with its eerie Mid Eastern flavor to the last notes of Foreign Policy, Megadeth pounds their stake in the ground hard. Dystopia brings back Megadeth’s intense, fast, and strong sound while adding a few shakes of multiple musical genres from classical guitar to just a dab of hardcore. It has all the energy of their first release Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good while adding 31 years (yes folks, 31 years) of experience.
Guitars dominate and bass & drums could fill in for a defibrillator. Every song is hard and heavy with a strong groove. And as for lyrics it can be said that Dave Mustaine is the poet, philosopher & prophet of the age. All I can say is Mr. Mustaine, more please!
